Why should I apply?

Impact Investing Group provides an immersive opportunity to engage with nonprofits. As a member, you’ll learn how to think critically about both business and social issues while picking up technical skills in finance. You’ll also gain a community of like-minded students to bond with and receive mentorship from.

Who should apply?

Any USC undergraduate interested in finance and social impact can apply. We’ll need business students for market research, pre-law students to help with contracts, computer science students to build apps, and pre-med students to navigate the health industry. There is value for everyone and we emphasize passion and diversity fo thought. All experience levels are welcome as we balance friendly learning with premium service to clients.

*Additionally, reapplications are both allowed and encouraged.

What do IIG look for in prospective candidates?

Our work is fast-paced and technical, and while prior skills and experience are not at all required, critical reasoning and ability to learn are important. Most of our work is team-based, so we expect motivated commitment and collaboration throughout projects. Finally, we want people who think different and think big. Ingenuity is important for entrepreneurship and resolving social issues, so we want to hear your unique, ambitious ideas.

What’s the time commitment?

Projects last about ten weeks. During the week, you’ll be expected to attend meetings, workshops, and calls for research and clients. The total commitment is around 5 hours each week.
